| Why the casein paint ? Painting with casein is an antique technique that goes back to the end of the XVth century. It results from a protein of milk usually called painting with soft white cheese. This technique is thus fully proven for its reliability in time. It is used like gouache, can be diluted in water, and very easy to apply. It can be applied to wood, paper, canvas or terra cotta. This is a completely versatile paint for both used supports and choices of application: backgrounds, floral patterns, trompe-loeil, fake marbles, still-life painting, architecture, landscapes, Its execution can be compared to ancient paintings namely: a velvety, a matted and a depth close to the most famous masterpieces acknowledged since a long time (see Giotto, Piero De La Francesca and others). As many contemporaries such as Batlhus who use it as an essential work tool. Its drying time is longer than the acrylic resin without adding any chemical retardant. Wax and patina can be easily applied and can immediately give a particular depth. This paint is made by craftsmen with the respect of tradition using natural products: pigments, casein, vegetable gum and purified water. This paint is resistant and indelebile. We recommend as a finish to apply a patina with a color-free wax or a matt varnish containing alcohol. |
